LG Vu

Pros PROS: Easy texting and light weight
Cons CONS: Starts to have problems within the first few months.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  I would not recommend this phone because it is not reliable and is on the verge of breaking at any moment
Appearance: The appearance lasts a long time on this phone, and is durable. I’ve dropped it countless times without a case, and it has held up pretty well on the outside (The inside and internal parts, well, not so much)

Function: It works pretty well until it gets dropped a few times. It usually works the way it should, but will randomly shut off and takes a while to get turned back on.

I bought this phone in March or April of 2009. I didn’t receive a lot of information about this phone which was a little strange. When I had my razr, it came with a booklet of 50 pages. The Vu came with a tiny brochure with colorful pictures, showing me the cool features of the phone, not how to navigate around the phone and fix any issues it may have. At first I thought this phone was great! It was very appealing with its big screen, keyboard and the fact that it was a touch screen. I loved the keyboard which is a decent size, and the weight of the phone, which is like nothing at all. It has tons of memory and took nice pictures. The speaker in the phone is loud and had 7 levels of loudness to adjust. The loud speaker for the phone is nice too.

After a while, I started to see things that bothered me. For starters, you can’t make your own ringtone. You have to have MP3 files and they have to be a certain length to play them. The recording on this phone is terrible! It is so distorted, and you have to turn the volume down to even be able to understand the songs you record. The phone doesn’t hold a lot of text messages at a time. It holds about 150 all together, making me have to delete messages constantly. Also if you are sending a message, and hit the lock button on the side, it saves the message into to drafts section of the phone. It is annoying to have to delete them. Also you are not able to lock any messages that you want to keep. If you want to not erase a message, you have to delete them one at a time. The camera does have a nice video, and camera quality. The only problem is, once you drop the phone a few times, the camera will suddenly stop working. Also it has no flash like most modern phones, so it can’t take pictures in dim areas.

Within a few months, the phone started having problems. It started to randomly reset, and I would have to wait hours to try and get it to fix itself. It has no water damage, but for some reason the camera stopped working, and then suddenly worked again. This phone also gets terrible service. My friends who also have AT&T will get better service then me in the same exact location. The charger does not stay in the phone, and you literally have to hold the charger into the phone to keep it in there, unless it’s on a flat surface.

I would not recommend this phone to ANYONE!! Although it is pretty affordable and nice at first, it is a piece of crap, and not worth any of your money taking it back to get it fixed. It gets so many issues and so fast, that it’s not worth even taking your time to go into the store to take a look at.
