The Bottom Line:
I wouldn't recommend it because it's may start out as a good phone, but after a year and a half, it becomes junk.
The LG Vu is an ok phone. It has many great features provided through AT&T, the most prominent feature is the fact that it's touch screen. This makes dialing calls awkward at first, especially through automated calls, but you can get use to it. Another feature that makes the Vu famous is the mobile TV. I havn't used it, but from what I hear, there's no buffering bars or waiting to watch a TV show. The downside to the TV is that it's not available in all locations, and it costs an additional fifteen dollars per month (thirty dollars for unlimited email, internet, and other features). It's true that the screen locks up after thirty seconds, but it can be set so that it doesn't lock automatically at all. Also the battery charges very fast, and seems to last a while. The people that complain about fast battery drainage are probably people that play games, text, and talk a lot, but that's off subject. The only major problem that I have with the Vu is that to be able to use a audio file as a ringtone, it has to be less than thirty seconds long, and of the mp3 format. Sometimes, however it will work with the file being more than thirty seconds long, and sometimes it won't work even if the file is less than thirty seconds long.
My favorite thing about the Vu is the amount of memory. Mine has 152,553 KB of memory, and I don't even have a memory card, and that's a lot of memory for a cell phone.
The Vu can be a bit pricy, but some web sites work with AT&T so that you can get a brand new phone for free. The only thing you have to pay for is the activation charge. That's how I got my phone back in May of 2009. I went to Letstalk.com and got a free phone, plus the activation charge.
Now, for the cons...
I'm updating this review due to how the phone has been acting. Two months out of warranty, the microphone and speakers went out, and would only work if I keep the phone on vibrate. Within the course of a month, the battery life went from extremely good, to horrible. The fact that there are restrictions to the ring tones has become a nuisance. If you want a message tone, you have to select from the ten tones you are given, you don't even have the option to shop for more. I am officially changing the rating of this phone from five stars to three stars, due to the faults with it.
