Very good for a basic system
Pros
Sleek, see-through. Built-in cross over and remote bass-boost saves money!
Cons
Peak Wattage per channel is 400 Watts, but actual RMS is about 50-75 Watts.

The Bottom Line:
Are you a beginner, not rich, or wanting a basic amp to do all you need in one package? the LA590 will suit your needs and pocket book very nicely.
I installed the American Legacy LA590 with no problems on a set of 12 in woofers (full range, not subs). I am pleased with the amount of sound that comes out of it for the low price. American Legacy Amps in general are mid to low-end products, so the wattage you see marked on the outside is a peak that is quite a but higher than the RMS output. However, if you just want good sound for a good price and you aren't wanting to empty your wallet for professional quality items, this amp performs very well.
The LA590 has a built-in fully adjustable cross-over network for low AND high pass cross-overs with a dial to adjust the exact cross over frequency instead of a switch with 2 or 3 preset freqs. If you plan on pushing subs with it, the REMOTE (read, under dash) bass boost of 18 decibels (every three decibels is twice the sound) at 60 Hz is very nice. I shouldn't have to mention how much you will spend to purchase a seperate active cross over.
All-in-all, the LA590 is a very good basic amplifier. It has everything you need built in to it for easy and productive use. But, for goodness sakes, BUY IT ONLINE!! I paid $64.50, and I've seen it in stores for $159.00!!
