Minilux

byduc996 Aug 16, 2001
Pros Amazing lens, solid construction, maual features, Leica quality.
Cons Price, but its a Leica!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  A fancy, high quality point and shoot. Great lens and top notch quality.
At the time I had an F4 as my primary camera and I felt funny about lugging it everywhere. I decided to get a point and shoot. I ended up with this Leica. I fell in love with it when I held it. It felt tough. Steel construction, not that flimsy plastic found on most point and shoot cameras.
When the lens pops out you can hear the deep solid sound of the electric motor., This is more evident when you take a picture. You can feel the strength and weight of the advance motor. Sounds strange but thats what I like most about the camera.
The build is tough. But I think the best asset of this camera is the glass. Leica is one of the best lens makers in the world. This lens is a fast and high quality lens. I prefer this fixed lens over the zoom model. Besides, the zoom model doesnt have as many manual features.
This Minilux has manual focus and apreature priority. It also has the usual red eye and timer features.
It is expensive, but it can take pictures as well as many SLR's. The lens is better than most interchangeable lenses.
Its very portable. A great accessory is the Leica leather case made for this camera.
