Premium binoculars are not a purchase that everyone is going to make. Certainly, for the average person, they are more than a luxury; they are an extravagance. I love going out into the countryside. I enjoy birding very much. I also love to go to the ballet and theater. Often, the seats I get are far enough away that a pair of binoculars is good to have. Rental of binoculars is a couple of dollars each time. I decided rather than shelling out a couple of bucks each time I went to the theater, I would like to have a pair of my own binoculars. I started doing my research.
I started doing some research. I was shocked at the wide range of prices for binoculars. When I went to the local optics store, however, I found a salesman who helped me make some decisions, and I finally decided on the Leica. I rented a few different pairs of binoculars to go birding with first. The resolution and clarity I experienced with the Leica binoculars was beyond any other binoculars. Though not the lightest pair, at 23 ounces, they were a comfortable weight. Since my binoculars go outside with me a lot, I was also happy to have a lifetime warranty on the pair that I bought. The extra couple hundred dollars for an item I will have for the rest of my life makes these a real investment. A couple hundred dollars over the rest of my life was not too much for me to pay for something that gives so much pleasure.
