Just a basic user

Pros Sets up quickly and PCs can find the wireless.
Cons None.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Keep it simple and this thing rocks.
I guess all the complaints I see on various forums about this device are from advanced users.  It's time for Joe average to weigh in.

My objective is to turn my daughter's wired dorm apartment hardware ethernet connection into a wireless connection both roommates can use, in an environment with hundreds of techno-dweebs on floors above and below her.

While I'm a tekkie, she is not, and I wanted it to be a fast setup with no frustration.   The school said to get a switch, but I wanted it to be wireless, and to last for the next 3 years until graduation, and maybe take it with her into an environment where she will need the router functionality.

I wanted dual band so she has a choice when wireless interference gets bad from her hundred neighbors, all of which I'm sure she will have.

I'm not worried about gigabit, her machine today doesn't support it, and hey, the world of routers will be entirely different in three years, another new one will probably be needed.

I'm not using the router, I'm not using dhcp, that's up to comcast.

I'm writing this review to make you think outside the box, an application where this will work well.

I didn't use the CD configure it, I went into the router's web setup directly and made all the necessary changes, including a damn fine passphrase!  Don't need know tekkies burrowing in and stealing her bandwidth!  Yeah, it's shared anyways, but in a building full of tekkies, Lord only knows what they are sniffing for.  The apartment is small, so I'm not worried about range.  I'm worried about connectivity and security.   With most networking products I never need all the features.  As of Augus 11th, it arrived from newegg.com with the latest firmware.

I made the configuration changes at home, had her test it with her laptop, and two others in the house and made sure we could get to both frequencies just fine.  So it's good to go.  In her suitcase next week, with a couple of cables and she's good to go.

For the people who say this box runs hot, I say, "say what"?   It is warm, but not hot.  It's also not as big as it looks.

So I say, when reading online reviews, the majority of people complain, the majority of happy campers do not bother to write.
