Lite On LVW-5045 (160 GB) DVD Recorder

I purchased this in January 2006 and it worked great, for awhile. After about 6 months it started to get very fussy about what brand and type of DVDs I could record on. Even the ones listed on their recommended brands list didn't work. Then it started to refuse to play back dvds I'd recorded on it! Now it has stopped recording on any dvd period and only occasionally plays back either commercial or it's own recorded DVDs. I contacted their tech support and it was immediately obvious they knew nothing and didn't really care. After two contacts they finally told me it was defective (Duh!) and I needed to return it to the store I bought it from. Since I purchased it online (TigerDirect.com) I'm now fighting to get a "manufacturer's defective confirmation number" from them that TigerDirect requires. Oh, and they require it be returned in the EXACT packaging it was delivered in so if you do buy one for some reason save your packaging! I will never buy from Liteon again!
