Yes
The Bottom Line:
Deserving the time spent having it set up. Enjoying the utility coming from this device.
It happens that I begin to be a firm believer of those electronic gadgets designed lately by companies in Taiwan. For instance, I own an Acer Laptop, Model Travelmate 370, a GSM handphone, Benq S660C and now a DVD recorder, LiteOn LVW 5045.
Taiwan used to be known for their competencies in electronic components. Now with the rapid expansion of markets in PRC, numerous system level products began to emerge. There is no question about their reliability, for they learnt from their decades of experiences making semiconductor components and OEM PC's. What distinguished their designs from others is the transparent and efficient human interfaces, exemplified by the very human interfaces of the 5045 recorder. To me, that is the most important feature of all new electronic products.
I have had this gadget for merely a week. I already mastered the recording of TV, tape, DV and picture signals. The 160 GB storage space is plenty for giving one the freedom not having to mess with transporting the signal to individual DVD's for weeks at a stretch.
The last thing I want to mention is PRICE. To me, that is important only if the device is worth one's effort to spend time to have it set up. LVW-5045 qualifies for being such a device and more!!
