What No Kitchen Sink?
I have had the unit for 6 months now.
Let's begin with a player that has a downloadable firmware upgrade so you don't have to call the company, explain why you want an upgrade and then have to either take it to their shop or send it to them and wait 2 weeks. So it already had bonus points...

Good value, no worse than many other units.
I've had mine for about three weeks now. Bought it on-line at CostCo for just under $400. Could be better but a decent unit nontheless.
The programming is tedious and the editing leaves much to be desired. No A-B delete. You must split the program, split the remaining program portion...

Don't buy!!!
I purchased this in January 2006 and it worked great, for awhile. After about 6 months it started to get very fussy about what brand and type of DVDs I could record on. Even the ones listed on their recommended brands list didn't work. Then it started to refuse to play back dvds I'd recorded on it!... Read full review »
Pile of rubbish
As previous reviewer said - it doesn't like TDK media - then why the heck did they bundle a 25pack of blank TDK media with the machine?
Bought my unit last December.
6 months down the line I decided to transfer some old video memories to DVD. Saved them to the copious hard drive...

Started out great, but now have problems

Great machine!
I've had my 5045 for a few days now.
It works great and I have had none of the problems mentioned before. It came with firmware rev 0197 which I used for a couple of days with no problems. I tested the timer functions, defrag, etc., as complained about here. The timer worked fine several times...

Great product and easy to use
I have bought the lieon 5045 and I never been happier, it is easy to use with a lot of space on the hard drive, it can record from almost anything and it allows me not to miss any moment of the action through the time shift recording function all this from very reasonable price. Read full review »
