This machine has a very poor VCR it dosent track properly and will not retrack its own recorded program. The DVD will not always read its won disk again between recording and finalizing and sometimes will not read new blank disks.

Fine if you like B&W only recording.
I recently bought a refurbished LVC 9016 through Newegg. The unit was OK at making a DVD from a VHS. However, my unit did not record or receive TV signal in color, only black and white. It took some time to figure out which channel to tune to receive my Dish Satellite signal. Had to go to Set... Read full review »
Lite-On LVC-9016G DVD/VCR combo
I bought a Sony DVD recorder/VCR combo last year. As I recall, it was around 300$. For the last several months, it was a hit or miss when I tried to burn anything coming from my TIVO box. Most of the time I would end up with coasters. I finally said ENOUGH! and started looking for a replacement... Read full review »

I would not mess with this product
I was initially excited for this product when I got it, until I hooked it up and tried to use it. The DVD player will not read DVD disc properly, and once out of every 20 trys it gets it right. The VCR is not that good either- poor quality. Leave it alone if you can, cause you'll just get... Read full review »

I noted that the 5002 had many features that I wanted including Progressive scan, Component connections, Video-Plus etc. I don't know the brand, but... Read full review »
The Best and the Worst
I loved this machine the first time so much I bought another one. It's easy, high quality transfers, everything you do can be done by remote with one or two buttons. It is amazing. I used it every day and it was the best recorder combo ever. It read everthing, it transferred everything, never... Read full review »
Simple, Elegant, and Powerful
This is simply the best, easiest to use DVD recorder I have ever used. The controls are completely intuitive, and the menus are SUPERB. I never even had to read the user manual for this machine, and I've successfully burned a dozen or so disks.
My primary reason for purchasing the Lite-On...

liteon Terrible Product lvc-9016g
The player destroyed my DVD by spinning it at an extreme speed until it cracked radially from the center, making a horrible noise when I woke up and found it. The player starts spinning extremely fast whenever there is a dvd sitting in it unused for more than an hour.
The unit will not pass...
