Lite On LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder

I purchased the LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner during the holidays to replace my quirky Cyberhome DVD recorder. I wasn't above to waste money on another Cyberhome brand so I looked at brand names I was familiar with and settled on the LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner.

PROS

1] The LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner is very stylist, compact and light weight (under five pounds).

2] It's a dual DVD recorder (meaning it records to both DVD R, RW, and DVD -R, -RW). Don't get it confused with Dual Layer technology.

3] The user interface is child's play simple. Depress 'MENU BUTTON' and make your selection to play, record, record timer, or disk utilities ( for finalizing DVD - R media or erasing DVD - RW disk).

4] Included remote is well laid out and ease to use. It fits comfortably in your hand. whether you are left or right handed.

5] The LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner features one touch record for those spontaneous recordings.

6] The builtin fan keeps the unit cool while watching or recording your programs. Fan is low noise but can be heard in silence pause.

7] Unit has two composite AV inputs (one front, one rear), one DV input front, and two coaxial (one input and one out). The LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner does not offer any optical inputs nor any S-video inputs.

8] The LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner comes packaged with the unit itself, power cable, instruction manual and one composite AV cable.

9] The Liteon will play mp4, wma, and mp3 disk too. And has progressive scan to improve image quality on the new digital televisions.

10] I've enjoyed the LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner going on five months now and have had no issues with the product (knock on wood). Regardless of the type of media I insert, the unit records as easily as a VHS tape. DVD - RWs don't need to be finalized to work in other players but you do need to finalize DVD- Rs once you are finished recording on them. I've tested the recorded disk in 10 different players/burners and non have had an issue with playing the disk. I've been very proud to own this little gem and have been recommending it to family and friends that are in the market to buy their first, add a second or replace one they have had nothing but trouble with --

CONS

1] The LiteOn LVW-1105HC DVD Recorder with TV Tuner does not a S-video or optical inputs or 5.1 surround sound. Does not record on Dual Layer DVD media. Perhaps it will on a future version.
