Keyboards and Mice are interesting things. Unlike actual computer systems, most everyone looks for the same things in a keyboard and a mouse, with very few exceptions (including left-handed people, blind people, etc.). So why in the world are there so many different keyboards and mice? I guess it's because companies are eager to make money and people are eager to spend it, but regardless of all of the other keyboards and mice out there, the Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro package will probably be the best choice for you.
The keyboard and the mouse are the two most important ways you communicate with your computer, so comfort will be high on your list of priorities when making choices, especially if you plan on using your computer frequently. The Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro is very comfortable. The keyboard is ergonomically "split" which, personally, I enjoy (some people dislike this), and the keys have a nice feel to them. The keyboard comes with a detachable "stylish" hand rest, which is an added convenience. The mouse is also very comfortable. It is exquisitely contoured to fit your hand (although it is designed for your right hand), and the buttons are placed logically to reduce the stress on your fingers and wrist.
Another aspect of a keyboard and/or a mouse that is important to some and less important to others is style. While style is very subjective, I like the way the Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro looks. The mouse is gray and black, and the keyboard is mostly white with some curves of gray and black.
The Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro package also adds extra features that many other mice and keyboards don't, and those features are what makes the package stand out. First and most importantly, the keyboard and mouse are wireless (they use radio signals as opposed to infrared, so that a line of sight between the receiver and the keyboard/mouse is not required). This allows you to lounge on your couch or a chair or in your bed and type and use your mouse. Secondly, the keyboard has "quick launch" buttons that allow you to access your favorite websites or programs with the push of a button, and allows you to change the volume of your sound or even play a CD. The mouse also has a thumb placed double click button, that will double click an icon for you with one click (this sounded stupid to me at first, but I love it now that I have it).
As for the technical mumbo jumbo, there isn't much. You connect a receiver via two PS2 ports to your computer, and the keyboard and mouse communicate with this receiver. A USB interface would have been nice, but PS2 will do for now on most computers. Batteries are required in both the keyboard and mouse, but the packaged software allows you to monitor the level of the battery easily.
And that's all, folks. I have had the package for a couple months now, and I enjoy it a lot. I really have no complaints--but left handers should watch out because, as I said above, the mouse is contoured for your right hand.
