The Bottom Line:
Do not waste your money on this. Unusable remote due to poor LCD.
Logitech has such a good brand reputation; it is hard to believe that they let the Harmony 550 LCD remote product go out.
I have always seen good reviews of the Logitech Harmony remotes, I thought it would be good to have a backup of my remote setup on the computer. That is why I bought it. That part works OK. It connects to my computer (Windows Vista) without any problems.
That is the only good part of this remote.
But it is impossible to read the device screen. Backlight on or off, it is impossible to read. No way to adjust the contrast, or adjust the backlight level
to try and make the screen readable.
There is also no way to set the punch-through codes, the codes which you can use even if another device is set. So if I have my TV going through a stereo system, and the device is set to TV, the device tries to set my TV volume. I have to switch the remote to control my stereo, set the volume, and then switch back.
The keys are also very small, and hard to read, the backlight does nothing to make the keys easy to read.
I have not gotten any support from Logitech or the Logitech forums.
I have not been able to use this remote at all. It just sits in my junk drawer.
Do not waste your money or time on this remote.
Buy a Philips Learning Remote with full color screen, and on-remote instructions for programming.
