Cheap but crackly with headphones
Pros
Cheap and good-looking.
Cons
Crackly, tippy, and sometimes hummy.
Recommended it?
No
I was looking for a set of cheap speakers that would go on my desk right next to my monitor. I usually plug headphones into them in order to get better sound and to avoid annoying those around me.
The volume rheostat is crackly; probably a little WD-40 would fix that. A bigger problem is that unless the speaker is rotated just so I get electronic hum. A smaller problem is that they are not very stable: if I knock against it it tends to tip over. Since these are on my desk near my in-tray and pencil holder, this is a bit annoying.
