Rockin' Parkin' Spot for your iPod

Pros Great sound, sleek design
Cons sometimes difficult to power up
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great sound. Great design. A bit large but shallow. Awkward to power on. An excellent value despite its one drawback.
This speaker set is more than just speakers. It is practically a home entertainment system! In addition to being a nightstand for your iPod, it includes a lot of cool features including the following:
AM/FM tuner
Sleep timer
iPod video out
Remote

It has a very affordable price. Although it lists for $179, you can easily get it for about $50 less.

Sound
Most of all, it has great sound quality. The bass has a deep range. It has smooth sound and is better than some that cost more than double.

The set features a total of 80W RMS power, split into four separate amplifiers. A pair of amps drives the 4-inch, long-throw polypropylene woofers, while another set powers the 1-inch soft dome tweeters. Logitech rates the system's frequency response from 36 to 20,000 Hz at +/- 3 decibel. There are adjustable bass and treble controls.

Appearance/Looks
It's got a nice high-tech look to it, black with metal speaker grilles, it looks as good as it sounds. Although it's wide (16"), it is quiet shallow, less than 4.5". The iPod plugs right in the middle above the display. I would not call this a "portable" unit to bring on vacation. You can remove the metal grilles if you wish.

The Remote
The remote is backlit with six keys you can program to cue up your favorite iPod playlists or radio-station presets. However, like most lower priced iPod speaker sets, the iPod's menu system can't be programmed from the remote.

The Minuses
Sometimes it doesn't power on right away. The button might have to be pressed a couple of times to power it up, either with the remote or front panel buttons. That is the major detriment. Others have had that problem also so it just isn't that one specific unit.

Although there is a clock and sleep timer, it does NOT have an alarm system. Bummer! That means you still have to have an alarm clock by the bed to get up.

In summary
Despite it's negative features, the price, sound, and appearance are great. The sound quality is really good. Despite the powering up problems with the remote, the rest of it is fairly easy to work with.
