Infuriatingly inconsistent

Pros -Inexpensive -Easy to set up
Cons -Wireless connection drops constantly, making work impossible -Wired connection deteriorates quickly
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Don't buy this router. It's unusable for anyone unwilling to spend more time futzing with their router than they do online.
I read a few reviews before picking this router up. I had a Netgear in hand, but I'd had less-than-stellar experience with their products in the past, so I went with this one. From day one, I had problems. Though my computer was only in the next room of my tiny apartment, the wireless signal would drop every few minutes. Sometimes it would pick back up, and sometimes it would appear connected, but I would have to go through the whole unplug-router-unplug-modem-wash-repeat cycle a few times before I could actually access a web page. The signal never faded, it was either "excellent" or non-existent. I found that this also happened when I was 3 feet from the router.

After a couple of tech support calls and reverting back to v2.37 of the firmware as recommended, nothing had changed. Frustrated but not wanting to buy another router, I ran a long CAT-5 from the router to my desk in the other room. The wired connection was more stable, but hardly great. Sometimes a few minutes after connecting the speed would reduce considerably, something that was usually fixed by unplugging the router and plugging it back in. I'm almost positive it had nothing to do with the modem.

I went a few more rounds with tech support, a bunch of kids who know very little (when I asked whether one recommended firmware upgrade was meant to fix the problem I was having, the kid read the fixes off the website I had already read, none of which had anything to do with my problems), one of them just gave up and sent me RMA information. The problem is, I bought this thing months ago and have no proof of purchase, and there's a 10% restocking fee if they test it and find no problems, which they're sure to do.
