Great Laser Jammer

byyrly Sep 13, 2010
Pros Good laser jamming capability
Cons Installation is better left to experienced people
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:

While newer Blinders are available it still does the job and is cheaper, so if you need a laser jammer it will work

I own both the Blinder M20 which I'm reveiwing here and the Blinder M-06 a previous model. The M20 offers an upgrade to the M-06 as that as opposed to not having the ability to detect it detects and only jams when it detects something. Now on to the review.

The Blinder M20 consists of two jamming/detecting heads a little control box, a speaker and an LED along with some wiring. Installation involves giving the two heads a clean view of the road with no obstructions, that and the heads must be level. This isn't too difficult if you've ever done any electrical installations in a car, otherwise take their advice and go to a professional. Wiring isn't too difficult, the jammer heads plug into the control box with phone cords. Your biggest wiring challange is to wire it into the fusebox and install the included kill switch. The next hardest thing is finding somewhere to route the speaker and LED to.

I cheated a bit on my install and just wired it to a cigarette lighter plug allowing me to unplug it at will (using that as my kill switch). I put the LED and speaker on the dashboard in easy view.

Once you finish the installation, turning on the unit will give you a loud beep (deafeningly loud) and the LED will flip from red to green. With that you're ready to go. As you're out driving if you get hit by laser you'll hear that insanely loud beep and know its time to slow down and hit the kill switch (the importance of having a kill switch is so the cops don't know you're using a laser jammer).

Around here all I ever enounter are Ultralyte laser guns and occasionally an old LTI 20/20 this unit seems more than capable of doing a number on either of these. There are more modern laser jammers than the M20 however the M20 is also a tad cheaper these days and still does the job most of the time. The control box for the M20 has plug ins for two extra jammer heads, so if you find some for sale you can upgrade it to 4 jammer heads (also known as the Blinder M40) for more protection.

Overall this is a good unit. I've been diriving around with it for a while, and haven't gotten a single laser ticket (despite doing 80 in some stretches of the highway during a long trip). I'd recommend it to anyone.
