Worth the Price
I purchased the 1440 unit last week for a trip to San Diego. I am generally pleased with its performance. Consumer Reports gave it a 68 'very good' out of 73 rating and Costco had it on sale that week. The cost ($79) more than made up for the $10/day the car rental agency would have charged... Not too crazy with this unit
I am a Realtor and 100% rely on GPS. Purchased RoadMate 1440 and soon started hating lift. First, the unit takes awfully a long time to boot. My 386 used to be much faster 20 years ago. magellan 1440 is junk!
I bought my 1440 back in Sept of 09 and it locked up. sent it back and and after 3 weeks of waiting I got back someone Else's junk. It has a "RF" heat stamp into the bottom of the unit. I am very unhappy
I purchased a 1440 back in July, and by Sept. it froze up, was unable to return it to Walmart because it was over their 15 day return policy, so I had to contact and return it to their service in Tenn. Received a refurbished on from the factory a week later, not my original (diff. serial numbers)... Read full review »
when you have had multiples of different brands you can reaaly appreciate the small things
this was my very first gps and it was awesome and im sure the person who stole it thinks so to it was very easy to use lots of fun just looking up things like a phone book at your finger tips gave you multiple options for they way you wanted to travel nice large bright screen Read full review »
Easy to use
So much better than my previous Magellan GPS. I got this for Christmas and I love it. It's easy to set up, easy to enter addresses, and easy to understand. Love the spoken directions, and the bright screen. The estimated time of arrival, and miles to reach destination are good functions. Read full review »
