Magnavox MRV660 DVD Recorder

I bought this recorder back in November 2005. It was the most user unfriendly piece of electronic equipment I have ever encountered. Had to call 3 times before someone was able to explain how to hook up the system and get it up and running. It then worked for 3 months, after which it refused to recognize any commercial disc (for playing) and refuse to record. Every disc I put in, it read 'no disc'. Called Philips-Maganox, they advised my to return it for repair. Cost me $40 because they wanted it sent either UPS or Fedex. After 1 and a half month I heard nothing of the recorder. I called and they refuse to give me any information, except to call back in a few weeks. Called back, the same elusiveness, they said their customer support would call me in 2 working days. I never heard from them. I called back and they finally informed me (after I lost my temper) they could not fix it and a replacement would be sent. Received the replacement about 3 weeks later. It would not give the 'first installation" setup screen. Call customer support and before I was given any troubleshooting help and After holding for well over 40 minutes, I was told that the replacement was not covered under warranty even though the original unit I sent them still had another 9 months warrenty on it.
I will never buy another Philips/Magnovox product. It was my first and it will be my last.
