I'll never buy another Marantz

Runs cool; many nice features and decent sound for the price.

Performs well for music and video, but it makes popping noises when muting or changing inputs. Same thing when going between chapters on a DVD. It's not a speaker-damaging loud pop but it is very annoying.
Took it to the authorized service center, also communicated with the Marantz service people in NJ many times (including the "manager" or equivalent). They told me it's normal because of the way the muting transistors work. I told them that's nonsense because it only pops when in surround mode, and it's intermittent. So there is something wrong with the surround mode. They didn't get this message even though I told them REPEATEDLY.
Bottom line - Marantz doesn't stand behind their product. I would never buy another Marantz and I'm sorry I bought this one.
