Good but not BEST
Pros
Solid Build
Cons
Remote is confusing, Sound is lacking
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would pass on this model of Marantz. The Onkyo TX-SR700 is equivalent in price and much better sounding.
Having heard a lot about the Marantz brand, I was expecting a great deal more out of this receiver than I got. I purchased it for $720 at Cambridge Soundworks and compared it side by side to various other receivers.
The Sr7200 has ok sound and ok movie playback, but both were not spectacular. It seems to be lacking in punch and it doesn't quite hit the highs and hit the lows. I plugged in the Onkyo TX-SR700 and it sounds completely different. Therefore I returned this Marantz and bought the Onkyo.
I am running Bose (AM-7) and hooked up the dvd through optical cable.
The remote is a whole nuther subject. Who makes a remote where you have to shift a dial then push two separate buttons to control the bass /- ?? Answer: Marantz
