CDs on the go episode II...

Pros Lots of nice features
Cons Lacks hold switch
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Nice CD player with a good feature set for the price. Exceptional sound quality.
I bought a Memorex MD-6885 after my Sony D-FJ61 broke down. It refused to acknowlegde that there was a disk inside it, even after I ran one of those lens-cleaning disks.

This time around I was looking for a good CD player with the same features of my old one, at a moderate price.

This CD player retains many of the high-end features of the Sony model, including FM stereo, a line out jack for hooking up to a stereo, program/shuffle play, repeat play, bass boost, 45-second anti-skip protection, etc.

This Memorex player beats out the Sony on a couple points. First, its FM tuner is noticably better, with much less hiss and distortion on distant stations than I had on the Sony. Second, its included headphones are much better than the ones that came with the D-FJ61. They can play at maximum volume without distorting the sound, and the speakers are hinged to fold over flat, very convienient for storing in a backpack.

The only feature my Sony had that I miss on this player is a HOLD switch to lock out all the controls. Since this player doesn't have one, sometimes when it's getting bounced around in my backpack something will hit PLAY and start it up, depleting the batteries.

This CD player runs on 2 AA batteries.
