Two purchases in THIRTY years and each time I got
burned. Memorex, aka Memcorp, started with lousy cassettes back in the 70's and have graduated to
equally useless electronics. This clunker WOULD NOT charge from their AC adapter (the screen just blinked) and after charging from PC USB it would not turn on. A consumer should NOT have to absorb the cost of returning an item that was defective out-of-the package.
UPDATE: Their warranty department is well aware of this problem and it is now in the "shop". Research revealed this isn't the only LEMON in their product line.
Memcorp will replace it for $30.00, which is the average cost for this type of Lithium design, but WHY not give the consumer the option of purchasing it (at cost ideally) and sending the battery vs requiring the owner to ship them the unit. It takes all of 30 seconds to pry off the rear panel and disconnect it - much like a cordless home phone. It only comes with a 90 day warranty so they should have no qualms about a user opening up the unit for battery replacement.
