same problem for me!
I bought this at Target, too. I bought it in September for a Christmas present for my daughter. By the time I figured out it didn't work, (see above reviews) the 90 day return policy had expired and Target would do nothing.(Don't get me started on their return policy! and don't try to leave your... Do not buy this player
We purchased this unit and when we tried to use it. It would not power up after charging. All instructions were carefully followed. Exchanged it for another and found the same problem. After holding forever on the Memorex help line ( a toll number) I finally reached a breathing body by... Read full review »
$90 Paperweight
I bought this because it was on 50% off clearance at Target. I got it home, and it wouldn't do anything. Nothing. It connects to the USB port, and claims that it's charging, only when you disconnect it, it will not turn on. I've updated the firmware, and followed every step in the manual (there are... More GARBAGE from this company
Two purchases in THIRTY years and each time I got

Yet another user with same power on problem
My unit performs exactly as the other two reviews did. I tried downloading new drivers, but same problem.
Works as an external 2 gig hard drive though. Paid $45 on clearance for it.

On each one when I plug it into a wall outlet to charge the unit, (for the 12 hour period as recommended in the manual), the screen just flashes the memorex name over & over again. - According to the manual...

Do not buy if you want an audio player that will work.
I bought this player in hopes that I could use it as a mp3 player and a portable hard drive, exactly what Memorex claims it will do. Ha! Right when I opened it up I sensed that it would not work. So I carefully read all instructions, very brief with no explanations, following each step. The player... Read full review »
Memorex - never again
I purchased 2 MHD8021 MP3 players for x-mas gifts. The storage size and price were a big factor as well as the name Memorex. Neither of the units will turn on after charging and I can't return them to the store for a replacement as they no longer carry them. I have been trying since 12.26 to... Read full review »
