same problem for me!

Pros really, they are NONE unless you think a 2GB HD--only should be $90.00 plus tax.
Cons DUD. Memorex knows its a DUD. BAD MOJO!
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  buy a different mp3 player. buy ANY other play but this one. Did I mention? Don't buy this one!
I bought this at Target, too. I bought it in September for a Christmas present for my daughter. By the time I figured out it didn't work, (see above reviews) the 90 day return policy had expired and Target would do nothing.(Don't get me started on their return policy! and don't try to leave your comments on their 'guest relations' number, it hangs up on you!) After 45 minute with tech support at memorex, they offered me three options, to replace/repair the item,(2-4 week wait), to refund the item if I included receipt, or I could return it to the store. (which seemed to be their favored option). Well, I'm debating about what to do. For what it's worth, I bought a little Memorex MMP8560, (it looks like an orange wedge, cute, with FM radio) It worked like a charm, and I didn't have to install ANY software, and it was only $39.00. It, I like, but it's only 128MB. Fortunately it was for an 8 year old. As for the canned review items, like sound, portability etc, I can't comment, because it didn't work. Epinions has required pick lists, that's why there are entries. Thanks for reading this review. I hope you're not stuck with one of these. Try to exchange it for any other (maybe even memorex...) mp3 player.

I would love to add more information about this product's features, etc, but I was never able to benefit from them as the unit would not power up. I was able to transfer files to it, it seemed to save them okay, but they couldn't be played on the unit. It only operated under the power of the USB cable, and therefore only operated as a portable hard disk. I loved the review about the $90 paperweight, and the mention of throwing it across the room. (paraphrase) because it was very frustrating and confusing to be able to download to it, and it showed that it was charging under USB power, but then, the next morning, I unplugged, and it wouldn't even light up. It was a complete dud. Apparently, every one of these that Target got was a dud, because people have been through 2 or 3 of them and they ALL had the same problem. UGH!
