Same problem will not power on!!
Pros
The unit was on sale at $89.95 which I thought was cheap for 2GB
Cons
It's not very "portable" when I cannot turn it on without attaching a USB cable

No
I have a similar experience to the previous reviewer. I am now on my third unit.
On each one when I plug it into a wall outlet to charge the unit, (for the 12 hour period as recommended in the manual), the screen just flashes the memorex name over & over again. - According to the manual it should go to the menu, but I've never been able to make this happen.
I also tried to power the unit using the USB cable connected to the computer, and although when I do this it does indicate that the unit is being charged, once I remove the cable it will not power up.
My e-mail to the companies customer service has gone unanswered.
