Memorex MPD8855 Personal CD Player

I wanted a portable CD player that played MP3 files. This one plays them from CD-R disks. It's supposed to read CD-RW disks but I haven't been able to get them to play. It also has an AM/FM tuner which works fine. It has a skip prevention circuit which has worked well. I don't jog with it or do anything that would severely test this feature but general handling in a backpack or in a car produces skip free operation. A new set of batteries lasted at least 15 hours. I used it on the plane 5 hours each way plus a few hours at the destination on one set of batteries. The FM sound is pretty good, 128k MP3s sound very good. MP3s at 192k sound almost as good as CDs and the CD sound is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a good set of portable headphones for a really great sound. I recommend Sennheiser PXC200. You won't be disappointed.
