Memorex MVDP1102
Pros
Multi-format and multi-system (NTSC, PAL) player, 4-hour battery (detachable), very loud speakers, A/V in/out.
Cons
Not a multi-region player (plays only Region 1), the battery is very bulky and heavy.
Recommended it?
Yes
I bought this player a month ago as a birthday present for my 5-year old daughter. She is very happy with it.
The player has very loud speakers, which is very rare for the portable DVD players. The picture quality is pretty good (800x480), though it is not at the highest resolution (800x600) as in new 10 - 12 inch players.
With the battery attached the player becomes too heavy for my 5-year old daughter. She cannot hold it for a long time. I would say 10.2 inch is a limit after which a portable DVD player starts to lose its portability. I was able to play two DVDs for more than 4 hours on the player with the battery only (with a small break without turning off the player).
The player has almost all features. The only one missing is an SD card slot. I was able to play my cable TV programs and even blue-ray disks from the Sony Playstation 3, connected to the A/V In port on this player.
Let's see how long it will work.
