The Bottom Line:
do not buy this misrepresented experiment in user misleading misinformation
storage control: Ultra DMA 133, Ultra DMA 100, Ultra DMA 66, Serial ATA, RAID, IDE......
Says it all eh? Thats the problem. I've had my 915p about 6 weeks and I'm upset!
First it would not recognize my hdd connected to ide1, it said it was on ide3. To overcome this I needed to configure a raid driver using the unpleseant windows install F6 key!
So, this week on reading the manual and seeing the SATA 1-4 connectors and the box which says ICH6/6R TESTS OK and on the bottom of the box it says supports sata AND IDE raid, I decided to configure sata-raid. What a mistake! I go out and spend $200 on 2 80gb drives, then spend 1 whole Sunday and 2 nights trying to understand why the bios wont recognise my sata drives. Its because I have the wrong chipset! I have intel 915p/G combo, not a ICH6/6R chipset. But what about the box and the sata ports I ask, they say you can configure raid with IDE not SATA. This is misrepresentation and I will be taking it further with the folks at MSI!
I feel royally peeved at this turn of understanding why I've wasted hours trying to do somehting with a chipset that cannot be done.
I've spent many hours on this motherboard and it stinks!
