I know what my mother in law is getting for Xmas

Pros Easy to use buttons, scroll from anywhere
Cons None at all
Recommended it? Yes
I just received the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical mouse as a gift. This was something that I had decided I wanted after trying my friend BryRose's IntelliMouse. I kept telling my husband he needed to go over to my friend's house and try it out. Thank goodness for once he got my subtle hints.

There are a lot of features that I really like about this mouse, even without a tracking ball I am having a ball using it. It makes surfing the internet, reading epinions, and reading my email so much easier. I bet you are wondering how a mouse can do all of those things. After you read about the features you will understand.

IntelliEye Optical Technology: The mouse uses an "optic eye" to move around your screen. Since it is optical there is no tracking ball. This concerned my husband and he almost did not buy it for this reason. He was afraid that the optical sensor might get dirty more easily than a tracking ball and therefore, the mouse would not work. This is not the case. The optical sensor is sealed in so it keeps dirt out. As the package states "no mouse ball means no moving parts to clean or wear down."

No mouse pad needed: I love this because the kids always seem to cart my mouse pad off anyway, now I don't have to worry about trying to find it. It works on any surface except glass or high gloss areas, that's because there is no visible detail for the mouse to see.

Buttons Galore: There are a lot of buttons on this mouse that help you to navigate around the internet. This was the main selling point for me. I love these buttons.

--Scroll wheel: The middle of the mouse has a scroll wheel that lets you scroll all over the page. No more having to line the cursor up with the arrows in the corner to navigate up and down a page. You can be anywhere on the page and scroll down or up. This is the case when reading my email as well. I really like this and it makes reading epinions very easy. I can have my cursor anywhere and scroll down.

Click on the scroll button and a double arrow comes up. When you move over the top half of the double arrow your screen will scroll slowly up, move over the down arrow and your screen slowly scrolls down. This feature is sometimes nice if you are reading text, but it makes me a little dizzy to read while my screen is moving.

--Left/right mouse buttons: The mouse has left/right buttons like a regular mouse. They are used for the same things that your regular mouse is used for so I will leave it at that.

--Side buttons: There are buttons on both sides of the mouse that can be used to help navigate the internet.

The button on the left is right where your thumb rests on the mouse. This button will take you back a page when clicked once. I love this when I am reading epinions because 2 clicks of my thumb takes me right back to the "just in" page after I have rated an epinion....woohoo!

The button on the right is about where your ring finger would be (at least this is how I use it). This button will take you forward a page. I don't use this one as much as I use the back button but it is still very convenient.

Either of these two buttons can be reprogrammed to do tasks in other programs that you use frequently. I keep mine the way they are because I use the internet more than anything else and this really makes it easy.

The mouse is very stylish. The bottom is clear red and glows when on. Pretty and fun that's a good combo. The mouse is white with a black scroll button on the top and the side buttons are a shiny grey.

The mouse is comfortable to use. They say that it works for left handed and right handed people and for people with big hands. I am right handed and the mouse is very comfortable in my hand.

The mouse comes with a 5 year warranty so I know that it will last a long time. Since it is made by Microsoft I know they will be around to back up that 5 year warranty and I like that.

I really like this mouse. It works great and makes using the internet very easy. I have not had any problems with it, but I haven't had it very long either.

With the holidays coming up this makes a great gift and I know that I will be getting my mother in law one for Christmas. I hate using the mouse at her house because it skips and jams and I get frustrated. This mouse does not do that. This will be a perfect mouse for her.

I highly recommend this mouse, it will make reading and rating epinions so much easier...and isn't that what life is all about? :)
