IntelliMouse Optical is Easy to Use!
Pros
Internet Back/Forward Buttons
Cons
USB Standard ... Make sure of your port type before buying
Recommended it?
Yes
The Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical has been wonderful so far. It is easy to use, moves smoothly, has extra shortcut buttons, and overall is great accessory to my computer.
The Install - The IntelliMouse Optical comes standard as USB. This is great for those that have computers with the USB port. However, if you don't have the USB port on your computer, it does come with a PS2 adapter that you can use to plug in. Unfortunately, if you have a serial port for your mouse, you will need to purchase a different adapter.
The software is easy to install. Put the disk in and run the setup program. Choose which mouse you purchased and it walks you through the rest of the setup. As long as you can read, the setup is simple.
The Mouse - The mouse itself uses an optical sensor instead of a ball inside. This helps your mouse run better because you aren't using it as a vacuum to pick up all the dust off your desk. You know it is working when the bottom of it lights up. No, you don't have to turn it upside down ... the bottom wraps up slightly where your palm rests and you can see the light on.
The Buttons - This mouse is very user friendly. It would be great for everyone, yes, even lefties! You can set the buttons from the control panel how you like. This mouse also has the ever popular scroll button in the middle. It is automatically set up to scroll three lines at a time, but you can modify that to your own preferences.
In addition to the normal buttons, this mouse also has a button on the left and right sides. You can set them up to do multiple tasks that you do often, mine are set as the "back" and "forward" buttons for when I surf the Internet. Now instead of moving the mouse all over the screen, I just have to click a button and I'm back at the page I was at previously. (A great help when I'm reading on Epinions!)
The Price - The price I found was just right. On line you can find them for $55. At Office Max they were $69. But I went to SAMS Wholesale Club and found it for only $39. What a bargain!
This mouse has been great. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family that spend a lot of time "mousing" on the computer!!
