Great alternative to iPod
Pros
Zune marketplace--all the music you want for $15/month and you can put it on 3devices.
Cons
Not full 1080P HD--does not play DIVX videos.

The Bottom Line:
VERY good alternative to iPod. Zune Marketplace ROCKS.
Don't listen to all the negative reviews on the Zune HD. The newest device (32GB) is a very high quality unit.
Here's the bottom line: The SINGLE biggest reason to buy the Zune over any iPod is the Zune Marketplace. For $15/month you can have UNLIMITED downloads of ALL music (not video) on up to THREE Zune devices. It is true you won't "own" the music (save 10 downloads per month) the depth and breadth of the music available is astonishing. I downloaded over 4,000 tracks my first month-- or about 5K if I were buying the music on iTunes PLUS each of my kids downloaded another 1-2K tracks each as well--for the same $15/month. If you want to download a ton of music--get the Zune--it is a much better value than iPod and you can keep TEN MP3's per month permanently (even put them on an iTunes library).
The new device is much "prettier" than the old one but the new iTouch is pretty also. The Zune has a great touch screen--so does the iTouch. The Zune displays video in 720p HD, which on the screen looks great.
The other negative to the Zune is that many cars (like my new Mercedes) has full iPod connectivity meaning that the iPod playlists, etc. show up on my screen--the Zune plays through the car radio and sounds great but you can't change songs, etc. through the radio controls.
If you have the need for several devices--buy 3 Zune HD's instead of 3 iPods as you can do all you can eat for $15/month--that is a huge deal.
Another really neat thing is that the ZuneHD will sync wirelessly--show me an iPod that can do that.
