Good basic LCD monitor
Pros
18" display size, low power consumption (48 watts)/heat generation, weight (22 lbs.), Linux compatible
Cons
Refresh too slow for gamers. Connection cord should be longer.
Recommended it?
Yes
I purchased this monitor about 1.5 years ago from Walmart and have used every day since with no problems. Colors, graphics, photos and text all display well. Works fine with Linux also. I am not a gamer but the refresh is too slow for serious gaming.
The 18" display size, low power consumption (48 watts)/heat generation, weight (22 lbs.) and thinness are all great features of this monitor compared to a CRT model. LCD monitors are worth a lot of extra $.
From the Microtekusa website, "Great features of the C893 include 1280 x 1024 dpi (SXGA resolution), 0.279mm dot pitch, 400:1 contrast ratio, and 16.7 million displayable colors."
