Basic at best
Pros
Price: it's cheap and adequate enough. you get a pretty decent range if kept low.
Cons
The lows are muddy, and the highs crack (significantly) as the volume goes up.

The Bottom Line:
Get this only as a budget set of speakers. Does not give DVDs justice.
I don't claim to be experienced audiophile, but I've had these speakers for a while now (4 years) and I finally got tired of its small and multiple flaws. For the price, it's basically a step up from the cheap-o double speakers. Due to the small subwoofer it has more depth, but really if you are going to get this, it should really be as a steppingstone to something much better.
You could definitely hear its limits as you turn up the bass. It can distort very easily on low frequencies, and at high volumes it sounds no better than an old radio with all the cracking at the high notes. It's better not to push the limits of this little set, it won't cut it.
There's no intensity in it. I find that although the sound can fill a small room, it won't sound clean enough to truly enjoy it. You'll want to keep the volume down. This set is for someone who wants basic speakers at low volumes. No pretenses.
Also, on mine anyways, the volume knob buzzes at the lower settings. so much so that I don't use the volume knob on my speakers. I keep it at High all the time (since that is the only setting that you hear no buzz), and use the main volumes on the computer and equalizers to get the right balance (this may not happen on all sets though).
In all, This is a set that you'd want to give to your grandma or mother-in-law, or perhaps to use on an old computer. If you can afford it, get something with more power and dynamic range.
