The Bottom Line:
DO NOT BUY Mitsubishi DLP TVs for their dreadfully poor reliability and lack of enough customer courtesy and support to recall and repair their expensive, shameful TVs.
I purchased the Mitsubishi WD-62725 in November of 2004 and paid over $4400 including a 4 year extended warranty from a well known local appliance chain. The TV has a good picture when it's working. The problem is it has given me more problems than anything I have ever owned especially for something so expensive up front. The main circuit board has failed 3 times since I bought it and requires an $800 or more repair to bring it back up. I am not kidding on that...I just had it repaired last December and it is out again!!! In addition to those repairs, I have had to have the horizontal tilt fixed twice and have replaced the main bulb twice at a "reduced" price of $150 each time and the bulbs only last on average 1.25 yrs. To make matters worse, Mitsubishi has had so many problems with their DLP TVs that they cannot supply the repair shops with enough replacement circuit boards in stock and I have had to wait about 2 months from the time the repair person came to remove it, to have it sent back to Japan for servicing and then back to the USA to have it reinstalled. Luckily, I purchased a 4 yr extended warranty which allowed me to avoid the repair costs for the first 2 repairs but it ran out as of my last repair in December and as I mentioned, now the unit is not working again. Buyer beware!!! I repeat that I spent over $4,000 for this television and warranty and now, it's a dust collector w/a huge screen that looks as good as new but won't even turn on! Before you even consider buying anything Mitsubishi, please do a Google search for Mitsubishi TV problems and you'll see what I mean. People have gotten desperate and have called for a class action suit, are doing electrical repairs themselves with limited luck and there are many out there who are so frustrated like me because there is little hope of recourse.
