Pros Great picture, great connectivity
Cons Limited tweak ability vs. last year's model
Recommended it? Yes

Like another reviewer, I looked at widescreen sets for over a year before I bought one. I replaced a direct view 27" set, so this was my first projection, first widescreen, and first high definition set.

It does take getting used to. The picture is huge, which is really nice and immersive... Read full review »

Pros Phenomenal HDTV/DVD picture. The Promise.
Cons Line Doubler not always up to the task. Few HDTV broadcasts out right now.
Recommended it? Yes

The Mitsubishi WS 55857 is a nice addition to the Mitsubishi line of Rear-Projection HDTV monitors (meaning that it is HDTV ready with the addition of a set-top box). It falls in between the Platinum line and the and the Diamond line as a Platinum Plus. This gives you some of the improved... Read full review »

Pros Clear picture, good remote, rich finish, decent sound
Cons Added features do not add up to added cost
Recommended it? Yes

The time has come for an all-out, knock-down, drag-out battle between two of Mitsubishi's most popular HDTV sets. In the red corner is the lil' bro bomber 55807. In the blue corner is big-boy baddy 55857.

How are they similar? How are they different? Which is right for you?
Well,... Read full review »

Pros picture quality, input flexibility, ease of use
Cons none apparent yet
Recommended it? Yes

I spent a good year picking out a hi-def TV for a home theater, and went through all of the major brands available locally (Sony, Pioneer, Toshiba, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Panasonic). The units that are comparable to the Mitsubishi included the Sony XBR series and the Pioneer Elite series. Bottom line... Read full review »
