A Great BIG TV for the $$$$
Pros
Very good picture, even better with DVD. Great PIP, Multiple inputs
Cons
Very large, OK sound, Widescreen benefits hurt by "narrow" programs
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A great value. Good price, and even better quality. Must have this set on the list of TVs to consider
The Mitsi 65 " TV is an amazing set for the value. Great DVD picture, and nearly as good with a strong signal like Direct TV. Have not seen an HDTV signal, but must be great!
The set has inputs for several signals, allowing for easy switching between VCR, off the air, directv/cable, DVD, and HDTV if you have it. Multiple jacks also allow highest video quality to be maintained.
TV sound is good, but not great. Most will hook up to a home theater, so that should no be a big issue.
Picture quality was better than most other units, with the exception of Toshiba and Sony. The Sony has as good a picture and similar features.....but cost much more. Toshiba was similar in price and features, but the picture appeared SLIGHTLY better on the Mitsi IMO (although I will guess it subjective)
The set has several PIP modes, which is very nice with multiple inputs. Great Sat PM football. It also has several modes for mapping TV signals to the screen size, but this remains a weakness of wide screens. Most DVDs still do not fill the entire screen vertically, and normal TV signals are for "square" sets. The Mitsi can stretch the signal in several ways to make it fit, and for the most part does a great job. True value of the widescreen will come when HDTV is widely available, and this set is ready for the upgrade.
I would certainly buy this set again, and have no complaints. Easy to set up, and easier to watch. A good buy
