The Bottom Line:
I recommend this TV for those who do not want to spend an arm and a leg but want a great, fun TV with a great picture.
I'm not an expert on all the details of the new HD specs, but I've always wanted a BIG SCREEN TV and when we actually got it home, hooked up and warmed up (they told us not to turn it on for 2 hours to give the bulbs a chance to acclimate, and that was a long 2 hours, believe me)and turned on, well it was stunning. The picture is fantastic, even on the non-HD channels, although you get spoiled right away watching the HD channels. We did not want to spend an arm and a leg on a TV as all we wanted was a big picture, so we opted for the rear-projection. The cost was affordable at 1999.00, but adding in the power surge protector and special cables add another 150 bucks to the price and it's worth every penny. The controls are easy to use, and the choices for the video aspect are cool-from stretch to regular, it's awesome. The only downside I can think of is that you pretty much have to be in front of the tv to see the picture. If you stand off to the side, or stand up to watch (unless you are further back) you pretty much can't see it. But, we have our 2 easy chairs positioned perfectly, and it's great!!!! We've had it for about 4 weeks now. I recommend this TV for those who are on a budget of sorts and have enough room. It does take up a bit of the wall. The top is great too, as it is wide enough to place the HD box and the DVD/VHS player on top. Worth every penny!
