This is one AWESOME set !!!!!
Pros
Mitsubishi quality; connectivity as wide ranging as you'd ever need
Cons
No way to label inputs with your own choice of titles...Ugly cabinet
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This set will wow even the most critical viewers. I would match the picture against any tube or even any plasma tv on the market today!!!
Where do I begin?
Let me start by saying this is my third Mitsubishi big screen TV. However, I almost didn't purchase this set because of the sheer looks of the unit itself (when it's turned off of course!!). I was very close to getting a Sony, but found a piece of furniture that covered most of the cabinet so that made my loyalty to Mitsubishi sway me that way.
Anyways, once the set was delivered and hooked up to a Direct TV high-def receiver, it was UNBELIEVABLE!!! I was worried that for some reason the picture wouldn't be the same at home as it was in the store...I was right...it was even better!! There was a hockey game on HD NET(Direct Tv station) and you could actually see the puck!! Also, as the play was going on , I could see the faces, in detail, of the people in the stands. Amazing!!!
As far as hooking everything up, the inputs and outputs seem limitless!! I have a progressive scan DVD and a VCR hooked up now, as well as the high def satellite receiver connected now, and there are still tons of connections still available.
The clarity of high-def is worth the sacrifice of the very little distortion that is normal for regular broadcasts. However, I have still found myself seeking out high def programming to watch. The $15 attic antenna is a must in order to receive local network high def broadcasts...I hope more than just CBS (in Indianapolis) goes high def soon.
In closing just let me say that I am very happy that I went with a wide screen format. I started looking at 4:3 tvs and now a 4:3 tv looks wierd!! Mitsubishi has made a believer out of me again.
