Wayyy too big!!! Great HD but is it worth as a regular set?

Pros When showing a true HD signal, it ROCKS!
Cons When showing everything else, it FLOPS!
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Into DVD's? go for it! Watch TV? get the best signal you can, then go for it! Because of very few HD sources, I can't recommend this to a friend.
I admit it. I bought this just to be better than the jones! I bit off way more than I can chew. This thing is too big and because I have to sit 11 feet away from it, the thing looks like garbage. When I was at the store real close to it, it didn't look this bad. And they were running a low res signal! Maybe something is wrong with mine or I'm being way over critical. I have had it for a few weeks and nothing I seem to do makes it look any better.

Wait, hold up, I'm laying these bad lines on you. Its not all bad in the video department. I can say that on progressive scan videos or games, the thing is as deep and as beautiful as real life. I guess I'm only really complaining about my satillite signal. Oh, the interlaced games don't look bad either, just sort of heavy in the jaggy department at few times. Everything but the sat is running off component video. Perhaps I should purchase a better s-video cable or the new HD sat coming out later this year. Well, the HD picture is 3D and lifelike and I guess that is all that matters when your bringing in a monster 65", not watching reruns of "Chips" or "Knight Rider". Needless to say when I saw "SOCOM" in true HD, I was sold. The scenes that on my 36" looked so ho-hum, now look freakin real like the charlies are going to jump out of the screen and pop me with thier AKs! The sound department isn't too bad either but if you have this 65" then you more than likely have a 6.1 system or better, so those internals are off!

Thats about the only positive side I have so far about this machine. The downsides as you heard earlier are numberous. Anything less than an HD signal is garbage. That's the fact with anything this size. The remote is pure evil. Poorly laid out everything and nothing useful. It doesn't even have selectable inputs. You have to scroll thru them all to find your channel. Fortunently the tv allows you to cut off and on unused channels (not broadcast but video channels). But when you are using all inputs in the back for all 3 video systems and a sat, your screwed. Which, by the way, this TV does have 3 component inputs! The next model up has even more connectable goodies too. Navigated the MITZ menu stinks with this remote. The MITZ does have a decent menu very similar to Hitachis but I still long for more. The mitz gives you a calibration screen with one target and a whole screen calibration that gives you 50 targets to line up the whole screen. This helps clean up blotty areas like you wouldn't believe.

Well, I think these reviews are editable later on so when I get a better sat signal and rearrange the room to where I'm 14 feet away I'll update ya on the scoop. Oh, one more thing...I did a lot of review reading online of the various brands and models of 65" behemoths. This particular mitz led the pack in price and quality. It looked tons better than any other size or brand in the store too.
