Ohhh! Look at the cute little TV!

Pros Very compact, yet stunning picture at a very nice price
Cons The optional matching MB42311 stand is a bit pricey.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This TV is definitely the way to go if a person is into a small TV with big TV performance. The price is very reasonable and the picture is superb.
Mitsubishi is making another statement in the projection TV market. This time the statement is small, but the impact is huge.

Introducing the very small, yet very stunning WT42311. This set is probably going to be the reference piece as far as the compact projection TV market is concerned. The set is a tabletop model and it has a very small footprint.

A lot of customers are in the market for a widescreen TV, but their space is often limited. They also want to avoid compromising performance or picture quality. Third of all, and sometimes the most important is they do not want their wallets held hostage.

This TV can definitely fill these needs. First of all, it is very small and barely takes up any space at all. To really get a sense of how small the set is, one only needs to see the box that it comes in. The set is very easy to handle and position on the stand, and it looks great. The screen size is only 42". To add to that, it is a table top set, so it can sit on a small base of almost any kind. An optional matching stand that makes the set look like one piece is available for $299.

The set does not hold back on any features or options. It is capable of broadcasting 1080i, 480i and 480p. The picture is breathtaking because it incorporates the define-edge technology which is a trademark of Mitsubishi. This gives the picture remarkable detail in playback of all sources, whether its TV or DVD. The reds are truly stunning and there seemed to be zero artifacts in the picture quality. The set also does split-screen picture-in-picture with a feature that lets you position the smaller picture anywhere on the screen. One of the smartest features on the set was that it has all of the A/V connections on the right hand side instead of in the back, so there is no longer any frustration trying to move your TV to get behind it to connect or disconnect your equipment. The only other thing that I could see that would make this set better would be to add an illuminated light next to the A/V inputs so that you can see them in the dark. As a matter of fact, I think all TV's should have such a feature.

The remote control and menu options are very easy to navigate. The menu, as with all Mitsubishi TV sets is written in plain English and is not complicated at all. The remote also controls up to three other components of different brands. The sound is exceptional, almost like that of a larger big screen set. It has depth, good bass, clean highs and fills a room quite well.

Overall, this set is an excellent purchase for someone that is looking for a compact projection set with big TV performance at a small TV price. It actually costs less than most widescreen picture tube sets of 36" or more, and it weighs half as much.
