I bought this TV two years ago at Best Buy. I didn't take a really careful look at the manufacturer's warranty, and as usual I skipped the Best Buy service contract. Around last winter break the TV went drop dead. The power would not turn on no matter what. When I checked the documents, it turns out that Mitsubishi has only one month of warranty on this TV -- Yes, that's one measly month! I had to call in a local TV repair technician, and it turns out that the convergence circuit went faulty. The total repair cost: $422, for a TV I bought at around $1,400. I vowed never to buy Mitsubishi products.
For those who may have similar problems, let me describe the symptoms. I actually witnessed as the TV went dead. It was on at that time, and the screen suddenly turned greenish and the image distorted and immediately following that the TV went dead. After that, when I press on the power button, the green indicator light would come on, and go off in about 1 second, and the TV screen did not even bother to turn on.
