MITSUBISHI IS A DREAM MACHINE

Pros Excellent Picture Quality, love 16:9 screen output ratio, Excellent input options (s-video & component)
Cons Bulky in the back.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Buy it and you will not regret it cause there is simply not a better TV with same features anywhere around, for this kind of money anyway.
Well I don?t know how long does the average or should I say normal person debates on a TV purchase.
But it took me a whole year and a half. I just could not make up my mind between Mitsubishi wt-46807 and Sony 36xbr400.
And in the end Mitsubishi WON! I must say that I am a home theater freak. I still have a nice Sony front projector and a projector screen in my possession, but I once I purchased this TV, I removed the screen and placed the projector in the closet.
I don?t know where to start. Well I will speak first about the price. The price right before I bought it at WIZ (I know what are you going to say:? Why there?") Well they had that 12 months no finance and I had to go for it plus the price was slashed from $3,000 to $2,600 and in the end to $1,999. So I really got tired of waiting. I was debating between Mitsubishi wt-46807 and Sony 36xbr400 for a long time because like anyone said SONY IS SONY. And I had a tube, and I loved tube, and I heard bad stories about projection TV?s. Then the 16:9 came to my head. What the hell am I going to do with the crappy 4:3, I am tired of it. Plus once I get Sony that has 36-inch screen I will think 46 would look much better plus is 16:9 aspect ratios.
Both of them are HDTV ready, but I would use them for DVD's primary (that is what I thought though). Then my wife was nagging how Mitsubishi would match furniture much better and it is better cause its bigger (my tools are fine as well thank you :). And then one Saturday I was on my way to Sony store to pick up my Sony PDA CLIE peg-n710c, and i said let me stop again to the WHIZ store and check out my TV's. I looked at the Sony XBR and then I looked at the Mitsubishi. On Sony they were showing some nice images via progressive scan DVD player, but on Mitsubishi there was nothing. Believe it or not it was shut off. I asked salesperson to play something on it, and then I played around with the settings and adjusted the contrast and brightness. So there it was, the picture that blew me off.
So i told the salesman to start the paperwork.

Now i had to buy the same stand, cause in my opinion anything else than this stand looks stupid and it does not match.
So I got the original Mitsubishi stand for $199, regular price is $299. The reason I got it this cheap is that it was the last stand they had (not even in the warehouse) and it was the floor model. It did not bother me at all. $100 extra in my pocket plus no complicated stands building instructions. So I was offered the 5 year extended warranty and IN HOME REPAIR SERVICE for $299. First I said no to the salesman (even though he tried to make me get it). Then at the end when his supervisor came over to make sure everything is OK. He asked me, so do you have a big car? I said no! Well in case, god forbid this TV dies on you are you going to put it on your back and drag it to repair shop??
I said ok I get it slap those $299 on the tab as well. I picked up some Monster S-video cable for my DVD player, which is Sony DAV-S300 (I know it is not progressive scan and it does not have component output). And that was like another $100.

So in the end the TV, Stand, Tax, Extended warranty and Monster cables it all came about $2950. WOW

I was sad that I would have to wait from Saturday till Wednesday before I can see it in my living room but I MADE IT FINE.

I walked into the room that Wednesday, and I could not notice the smell of the NEW 46INCH HDTV in my room. Oh god, the WIZ delivery guys took care of all the boxes and everything but they do not know jack about connecting cables. So I had to plug one of my DVD's right away. I used TERMINATOR 2 and all I could say is that I have not been this happy since I banged 3 different broads in a same day.
Picture was AWSOME!!!

Then I said let me hook up my analog cable box...What a shame! Picture is so bad compared to DVD.

So I was still happy and I had in plan to purchase a satellite dish anyway. So I gave this contract to one of the companies at my job. (Over $40,000) So I told the guy you owe me big time, he said anything you say. So I asked him if he could get me the RCA DTC100 at a wholesale price. He said sure (Even though I thought in my head that I don?t want to pay anything for it).
He brought me the dish and the HDTV receiver RCA DTC100 to my job, he refused to take any money for it (so I took it as I wanted it, (for him to bribe me or lets call it buying me a THANK YOU CARD, only its a THANK YOU SATELITE SYSTEM) heheheh

I wont say how complicated was to install this DirecTV dish but once I got the signal and the picture MY GOD. I WAS BLOWN AWAY WITH THE DIGITAL PICTURE (over s-video cable only) I was immediately disgusted with my cable box. I canceled my cable immediately.

So then I had to buy the VGA to Component converter because my RCA DTC100 had only VGA out for HDTV signals. It is made same by RCA and model is VHDC300. NOW I WAS REHEHEHEHEALLY BLOWN AWAY BY THE PICTURE ON THE HDTV channels. On DirecTV they are 199 HDTV demo loop channel and 509 HBO HDTV. The picture is HOT HOT HOT. So know I have it all, my TV is hooked up and has it all. I don?t even wish to watch any DVD's (unless I have to) because NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO HDTV quality of PICTURE and DOLBY DIGITAL.

So now this VGA to Component comes in handy if you want to use your TV as a Computer monitor. Suddenly you have the 46 inch 16:9 monitor heheh. It looks nice to surf the net and sit back in your couch.
