Mitsubishi WT-46809 -- Solid Value in an HD-Ready Projection Set, with an Intriguing Promise

byradioguy Apr 2, 2002

Pros HD-Ready, Widescreen, Mitsubishi Promise Module.
Cons Not as good a picture as Toshiba RPTV's.
Recommended it? Yes

The Mitsubishi WT-46809, the smallest and least expensive model in the Mitsubishi entry-level Platinum line of HD-ready widescreen rear-projection TV's (RPTV's), offers an interesting tradeoff. On the one hand, these TV's don't quite achieve the pleasing, sharp, filmlike image quality which... Read full review »

Pros Great HDTV image. Affordable.
Cons Screen burn in happens very easy, even with HDTV images.
Recommended it? No

Got the TV at the end of November, 2001, and signed up for digital cable with a HDTV decoder box. Absolutely fantastic display of HDTV images. Widescreen DVDs with our progressive scan player look better than the local movie house. Most of the big CBS shows are in HDTV widescreen, but the... Read full review »

Hi everyone,
This I bought this TV back in oct. 2001. I love it! It has one of the most beautiful pictures I have seen on a projection TV. Its very easy to use, and its smaller size does not intimidate you like some of the larger sets. It has enough inputs to hook up all of your gear including... Read full review »

Pros Happy when we first got the TV.
Cons Picture burn 6 months after purchase. Need of a signal board - Mitsubishi won't help.
Recommended it? No

Bought this TV October 2001 and now just 5 years later our television (WT-46809) has died. First the sound went out, then unable to switch inputs... Service tech (authorized Mitsubishi technician) says it will need a signal module (board) and Mitsubishi says it is NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I am getting... Read full review »

Introduction

The Mitsubishi 46" WT-46809 is perhaps the best widescreen HDTV ready television on the market at its price point. For under $2000.00, this T.V. looks sharper, has more vibrant colors, and superb color separation than other T.V.'s costing thousands more.
