I wanted a cell phone and service to use when I was traveling in case of emergency or a breakdown coming or going to bingo. I hoped right over to Walmart's to the Alltel booth and subscribed to the service and picked out this phone which was recommended by the sales person. I know nothing about... Read full review »

I've been stuck with various models of the Motorola "flip" cellular phones for four years now. I keep having to get a new one because these are built for people that handle fine china. I don't handle, nor do I own, fine china... and with the work I do, treating my phone like its a delicate flower... Read full review »

Pros Motorola firmware
Cons Fragile, flimsy.

I have used cell phones for the last five years. My first phone was a Motorola 550, the model just before this one. Bizarrely, Epinions does not list this phone as a topic for epinions. Why is this bizarre? Because the 550 is probably the most ubiquitous phone in the world. During its... Read full review »

Pros Crystal clear.
Cons Bigger than newer phones.
Recommended it? Yes

I received my Motorola MicroTac 650 free with my cell phone plan. I was offered a non-flip phone or for $50 more a smaller phone. I decided to get the flip phone because it shuts off when you shut it, and I didn't want the small phone so I wouldn't lose it.

The Microtac 650 has been real... Read full review »

I needed a cell phone because I spend quite a bit of time at client sites, and I need other clients and employees to be able to reach me. So I looked into several service plans and providers and I chose Omnipoint.

Cons NOT dependable and awkward to use

We signed a 2-year Radiofone contract (I know, I'm a fool!) for
analog service and got this phone for $20 extra rather than take
the REALLY cheap one they offered with the deal - I wanted something
in which the keypad etc. would be protected, so chose this particular model.

I bought a Motorola Microtac 650 to use when traveling to and from the university where I teach. It has proven itself reliable and convenient beyond my expectations.

My wife and I each own this model of cell phone. For my wife, it is convenient to put in her purse and not worry about bumping buttons on due to the flip feature. Also, having two of the same model simplifies chargers, batteries car cords, etc. It is convenient to simply close the flip to... Read full review »
