The Bottom Line:
If you can look past the battery life, this is a good phone for your wife or daughter who just wants to talk.
When we upgraded to a family plan with the addition of my daughter to my plan, my wife and I decided to get her a phone, and get rid of the pre-paid she was using. The only phone she wanted was the Motorola Pink Razr. There was absolutely no arguing with her on this.
My limited experience with Razr's was that they are prone to breaking easily. I snapped a Razr floor model in half at Wal-Mart one time. The left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. When we received the phone, the bad taste slowly went away.
The unit we received at first felt just like that one in Wal-mart. Once we added the battery, it felt much more solid. It took about 3 hours to charge the phone so we could test it, and make sure that it worked properly.
Sound quality on this phone is really good. Calls are crisp and clear. It does lose some of the clarity when you use the speakerphone option on the handset, but that is to be expected.
Battery life on this model, however is not as good. It's not to say it's horrible, but the battery runs down faster in standby then I would expect. My wife finds herself charging it more often than I do my phone, and I use my phone much more than she does. She has to charge her phone about every 3 days. My phone, a Samsung Sch-u740, needs charged about once a week.
You can also turn this phone into a MP3 player. It can take a micro SD card as well, although to swap it out, it requires you to power the phone down, take the battery out, and then slide the card in and out. You can transfer the music via an USB cable, which is sold separately. However, if you have a digital camera, the USB cable that came with it may be able to fit this phone. The sound quality from the phone is decent from the ear piece of the phone, but don't expect a Bose quality sound.
The camera/video part of this phone is decent. The photo's it takes are a little grainy, but that is the usual for a camera phone. It only allows 15 second videos as well, so you may not get all of little Johnny's home run on it. That's something I hope they can fix, and just let you know the max you can take, based on the space available.
The bottom line on this phone is that it a good phone if you are looking to add a line for your wife or daughter, and they just want something they can talk on and maybe take a few pictures. It is sturdier than it looks. It would be better if the battery life was better
