Got Power????.......

Pros Excellent power(underrated), Looks good, small and efficient, Stays cool, Gain, EQ and frequency controls
Cons Pricey, but can be found on-line for reasonable prices
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  highly recommended for power and quality of sound
If not, this amp will fill your need. I've had this amp for a couple weeks now and I am very impressed so far. I have it hooked up to a single 4 ohm Infinity Perfect 12 sub. Let me tell you, my sub has never sounded so good. The Perfect line of infinity subs are great on their own (I'll let you read the Perfect 12 reviews for yourself) but paired up with this amp, it is an unbelievable combo.

Rated at 500x1 RMS into 2 ohms, but in reality, my amp came with an actual test sheet of 582W at 2 ohms with 12.5 volts.
I wouldn't doubt that this amp could do over 900 watts in real world playing..

Don't be fooled by other amps out there with outrageous wattage claims. I believe the best indication of an amps real output power is told by its fuses. The 801D has (3)25 amp fuses on it. That's 75amps. There is probably no proof or scientific test to back my claim but I believe if you multiply the total amperage of fuses by ten, In this case 75x10=750 that is a good estimate of real world wattage of an amp.

The previous amp I had which was also an MTX(rt2400) was rated at 425 watts into 4 ohms. it had (2)25 amp fuses x10=500watts which I believe it was really pushing. Some amps however have no fuses like the MTX1501d which is a 1500 watt amp, but MTX recommends an external 150amp fuse thus supporting my claim..

So if you see a 1000watt amp out there with a 30 amp fuse on it. BEWARE.... But remember there is no proof behind my theory so use it just as a rule of thumb!!

BACK TO THE AMP
Amp produces tight, clean and clear sound and can be turned up without fear of damaging subs because of its compression circuit. The amp delivers outstanding chest pounding impact and control due to its high damping factor. I also have not experience any turn on/off thump.

Even though this is a mono amp- it has two sets of speaker terminals to hook up subs in parallel without having to wire the subs in parallel first before connecting to amp, which is nice..

OVERALL:
I believe that this is the best sub amp I have ever owned. With a 1farad cap, this amp doesn't seem to make my head lights flicker like previous amps I've use, leading me to believe that its digital design really helps it to be more efficient than non-digital amps.. Plus doesn't heat up even after long hours of play.
I can't believe this much (quality)power can come out of an amp this size(no bigger than my rt2400)

I'm very impressed with the MTX 801D and would recommend it to those looking for a mono amp..
