The Bottom Line:  If you're looking for a reliable mp3 player to enhance your gym experience, this is perfect for you.
I needed something to take my exercise to the next level, something to let me focus during my workouts - I needed an mp3 player. It was only after browsing through many mp3 player reviews, that I decided this was "the one".

Memory capacity is one of the most basic attributes by which an mp3 player is judged, and at first glance the Muvo Sport might not seem very special. It has an internal memory of 256 MB and allows for SD card expansion of up to "512" MB...or so the manual says. Regardless of what the manual says, this unit IS compatible with 1 GB SD cards, for a total memory capacity of 1.25 GB. With a recent Froogle search revealing 1 GB SD cards for $30.00 or less, it doesn't cost much to really boost this unit's value.

The durability of this mp3 player is a combination of good and bad. On the plus side, you can toss it around just like a small piece of plastic and it'll still play great. On the down side, scratches and wear will show up very quickly to the screen and rubber coating.

Creative was nice enough to include some very handy accessories instead of forcing you to pay ludicrous prices for them later on *cough* iPod *cough*. The greatest of these accessories is the arm band. This band allows you to keep your Muvo strapped tightly to your arm with velcro. This unit also comes with a lanyard of sorts so you can sport your mp3 player like an expensive little stopwatch. Of course, the Muvo Sport also comes with a USB cable for that oh-so-important file transferring you might want.

Now let's take a look at how it sounds (figuratively speaking). One of the nice little features this unit has is an equalizer. It's just one of those useless 2-band equalizers either. Nay, this little guy comes with a "whopping" 5-band equalizer that can really help your tunes come to life. So the equalizer is good, but how about those earbuds? Well, I have to say that the included wraparound earbuds are the most disappointing part of the whole package. The sound quality is sub-par, and the fit is very poor...especially when things start getting sweaty. You'll probably end up getting new earbuds after putting up with the stock ones for a while. Take a look at some JVC "Marshmellow" memory foam earphones if you want something that will fit and sound MUCH better.

This unit has other interesting features such as a lap timer, stop watch, etc. I've never really used those features due to the fact I enjoy the music more. The good news is that should you choose to access them, the screen is large and easy to read thanks to bright blue backlighting. This unit operates on a single AAA battery and the battery life is true to the specs at right around 15 hours.

As far as the software goes, it gets the job done and does so trouble-free. To transfer files you simply drag and drop. I never really messed around much with the other features the software had to offer. The good news is that even without the software you still have the ability to transfer items to and from the SD card.

Overall, this is a great little mp3 player for the price. Once you get an SD card and some quality earbuds you'll have yourself an ideal little gym companion.
