Solid Product that won't break your wallet
Pros
Inexpensive, good quality sound and video
Cons
control knobs on the side a bit awkward to use
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Recommended as an inexpensive portable player that you'll be able to hand to your kids to use without feeling pain in the wallet if they break it!
I purchased the Mustek portable DVD player after doing some comparisons to other products (as well as comparing sale prices between stores!). I purchased this at JCPenney for $127, but it came with a $30 mail-in rebate, which brought the price to $97 (after taxes).
The Player
Compact, light, and extremely easy to use. The display looks great and the sound quality is pretty good, too. Don't expect stereo surround sound, but for a portable, it's quite nice.
The player contains the on/off switch, the volume control, and the play and pause buttons. I'd like the volume control to be a bit easier to use. I seem to fumble around to get the volume adjusted, but it's a minor concern. If you're having a minor use it, their fingers will easily reach and change the control.
The Remote
Credit card-sized. Works great from various angles. I'm actually able to sit in the front seat of my car and point it toward the player in the back seat with my son to pause, forward, etc. The remote handles all of the controls to the player, so keep an eye on it.
Accessories
AC Adapter, Car Adapter (plugs into the lighter or other outlet), battery pack. The cords are long enough for us. The Car adapter reaches from the front of a 4-door sedan to the back seat with a decent amount of give. I used the battery pack briefly, but didn't have it charged fully so it didn't last long. You're supposed to be able to get about a 2 hour charge out of the battery, which is good for a kid's movie, but don't expect to watch Braveheart or some other Epic on it. I haven't found a need for the battery yet, so it's spent most of the time in the box. It's a little heavy, about the weight of an older laptop battery or power cord.
