Successful Successor to the DP900U

Pros large display, high resolution, sharp text, vivid colors, bright display
Cons large area
Recommended it? Yes
Mitsubishi designed the Diamond Plus 91 to replace the aging old Diamond Pro 900U, which has caused a sensation with graphics professionals and gamers alike for years now. The Diamond Plus follows in the footsteps of its predecessors.

The first thing you will notice is the screen--it's fairly large compared to the average 19" flat monitor. It's been rated at 18.1" ~ 18.3" viewable area whereas many of the competitors (Dell P991, Sony G400, etc) have viewable areas of 17.7" ~ 18.0". The viewable area isn't quite as large as my old DP900U (18.3"), but it is quite nice to look at. Another thing to note is that this monitor is capable of 1600x1200 at 75 Hz, which is pretty much flicker free. The DP900U wasn't capable of such high resolutions at this refresh rate, so the Diamond Plus 91 has this welcome improvement since so many other monitors offer this high resolution as well.

Take note of the brightness of the display as well. When you select .7 v and select Fine Picture Mode (which I will explain in a second), this monitor grows really bright. I have heard people exclaim that it was too bright even though the brightness level never goes about 50% on my computer. The fine picture mode is a great addition to the monitor: it basically brightens the monitor, upping the contrast and lowering the brightness so that graphics come out sharper. Although the colors may not be good for a graphic designers because they are not true representation in FPM, it is great for everyday usage. Kudos to Mitsubishi for this. As well, you will be pleased by the sharpness of the monitor. Graphic designers complain sometimes that Mitsubishi tends to make the monitors *too* sharp: but for any office related work that involve spreadsheets or data entry or wordprocessing, the sharpness allows for incredibly sharp and eye pleasing text.

Lastly, it's cheaper than the DP900U with all of the same features: huge diamondtron flat display, USB hub, higher resolution, and the same quality from Mitsubishi. It's a great buy!
